"Dni" - is a collection of memories and documentary chronicles, vivid portraits of contemporaries and philosophical reflections, literary criticism and letters. The main characteristic of this work is its autobiographical nature, manifested in the author's interested active presence, his "self", and his emotionally expressed attitude towards the described.
Boris Konstantinovich Zaitsev is a classic of Russian literature, a prominent figure of the Russian diaspora. A true master of prose, poetic, colorful, and subtle. At one time, all of Russia admired him, but the decades of Soviet rule became a time of oblivion for Zaitsev's name. Born in the heart of Russia, from 1924 Boris Konstantinovich lived in exile in Paris.
The writer himself admitted that, thanks to the upheavals of revolution and exile, he discovered a previously unknown "Russia of Holy Rus" for himself, which took the main place in his work. Zaitsev's works became a continuation of literary traditions laid down by Turgenev and Chekhov, reflecting a religious perception of the world. Disdain for the race for material wealth, dislike for a quiet, comfortable life, and sympathy for wanderers and emigrants, including those forced - that is what filled most of the books coming from his pen.
